Compare Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage

Original Medicare includes Part A and Part B; separate Part D and eligible supplemental coverage may also be considered. Medicare Advantage is a private-plan alternative for Part A and Part B benefits and often includes drug coverage. Compare the complete arrangement, including provider access and cost sharing.

Review enrollment dates and next-year coverage

If you are approaching 65, review your current coverage and Part A/Part B status before assuming an enrollment date. If you already have coverage, examine next-year plan notices, provider participation, drug coverage, and costs. Confirm the enrollment rules that apply to your change.

Get help while keeping the decision with you

SelectMyPolicy is a private referral service, not Medicare, and does not offer every plan. Providers or agents explain available options; you decide whether to enroll. For information on all your options, use Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or local SHIP counseling.

A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING

Your questions, answered.

Does everyone enroll the same way at 65?

No. Current coverage, automatic enrollment, and personal circumstances differ. Verify your steps with Medicare.gov or Social Security.

Can I use Medigap with Medicare Advantage?

Medigap supplements Original Medicare; it cannot pay a Medicare Advantage plan’s premiums, deductibles, or copayments.

Should I review a plan I already like?

Yes. Check next-year costs, doctors, drug coverage, and benefits; a familiar plan name can come with changed terms.

Does fall enrollment guarantee I can buy Medigap?

No. Medigap purchase rights and underwriting protections have separate rules. Check them before changing coverage.

Does requesting information enroll me?

No. Enrollment requires the applicable eligibility, enrollment period, application, and confirmation.
